The Deputy Speaker, Benue State House of Assembly and House of Representatives hopeful for Otukpo-Ohimini federal constituency of Benue state on the platform of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, Egli Johnson Ahubi has called on party supporters in the State to take the shift in date of the Presidential and National Assembly elections in good fate and continue to mobilize support for victory of all candidates of the Party in the 2019 elections.
The Deputy Speaker, in a reaction, condemned the postponement of the elections and urged his supporters not to be discouraged by the ugly event but remain committed in working round the clock until the desired victory is achieved.
While recounting the inconveniences and set back the shift in date have caused the people and the democratic process of the nation, Ahubi called on the People of Otukpo-Ohimini to be patient and take it as a sacrifice to further strengthen the nation’s nascent Democracy.
He said the PDP leadership in the Benue South Senatorial District and the State at large is adequately prepared for credible, free and fair elections and advised officials of the INEC to put their house in order to avoid a repeat of the ugly situation.
The Otukpo-Ohimini House of Representatives Contender thanked his supporters for their mature and civil conduct so far , Rt. Hon Ezekiel Awulu Adaji for his invaluable efforts, Members of his Campaign Organization led by the Director General, Engr. Francis Ogbanje for their tireless efforts, the security personnel for their sleepless nights, the clergy for ceaseless prayers, traditional rulers for royal blessings and the media for the balanced reportage, and urged them to not relent in their efforts until victory is delivered .
Earlier, INEC had postponed the presidential and National Assembly elections scheduled to take place on 16th February, 2019 to 23rd February, 2019 and the Governorship and state house of assembly and FCT elections to 9th March 2019.
